Less Swelling Less Pain is a comprehensive book that will alleviate any horror stories you may have heard about total knee replacement. It covers step by step from, contemplating surgery thru what to expect before, during and after surgery. If you have this book, I doubt there will be any need to call your Dr. with a question. It is in large type, easy to read, contains excellent illustrations, and covers guidelines on health, medication, nutrition, exercise and much, much more. It also provides checklists so you can record your post surgical progress. You won’t have to wonder “Am I doing enough? or Have I done too much?” It’s all spelled out for you in this book. I used the Swift Path book as my “bible when I had my knee replacement, so when the new Less Swelling Less Pain Total Knee book became available, I ordered a copy to share with others who may be facing surgery. I feel that this book is a great reference, and helps a patient make good choices for a complete recovery.

I found the book very informative. It was right on point with pre and post op experiences. I felt at ease with all that the book offered.

I thought the book was very helpful, it gave me an overview of what to expect and what other people had encountered. I liked it because I could compare myself to others so I knew where I was in the process of healing.

As a professional nurse, this book is presented in easy to understand language, factual and concise. Built to connect with various needs for the patient. I personally appreciated the daily guide to keep you on track and motivat1ed for the entire recovery journey. Some times, when ypu dont feel like you’re on the right track, his words redirects and assures you, you are and to keep going. Even patients of other orthopedics surgeons request Dr Wickline’s patients, with the book, send daily snapshots for their inspiration and guide to recovery.

The book is a great tool that needs to be read and understood. I can attest to the fact that if you read and more importantly follow the guidelines the outcome will amaze you.
I had almost no pain took no pain medication other than then the anti-inflammatory and was back to work 2 weeks post-op.

Dr. Wickline replaced my left knee over a decade ago. Recovery and rehab were per the traditional methods at the time. I had to stay in the hospital for three days following the surgery and went to a physical therapist for the rehab. The replacement and ultimate recovery were successful but it took time. I just had my right knee replaced by Dr. Wickline using the recovery process as defined in his book. I can’t say enough about how it helped me to a very quick recovery and ultimately getting me back on feet. By following the very detailed but simple process he has developed, I ultimately received an A+ at my 2 and 6 week visits with the doctor for bend and mobility. I didn’t have to stay in a hospital following surgery, I went right home and started the plan per the book. I was able to drive much sooner than with my first replacement and did not need any support, just a cane/walker for a few days following surgery. I have the usual pain and sleep issues which is common for a major surgery but I feel they are much better than if I did not follow the books process each day as planned. I highly recommend purchasing the book and having it guide you through the daily steps, you will get better faster and with less cost (no need to go to a physical therapist) and much better results. Thanks Dr. Wickline, I’ll be back to myself sooner than later!

An excellent resource! Answered all of my questions as they came up. Didn’t need outside PT because of the exercises given for the days following surgery.

The book was great in informing me of what to expect and how to recover after a total knee replacement.. The book was a most helpful tool to keep me on track with the exercises and icing the knee using the daily check list. Dr Wickline’s team along with Upgraid Mend made sure I had a coach for the first week and all the equipment I needed to keep me safe. I also purchased a BREG Polar Care Wave ice compression machine with no reverse reaction and helped with the swelling immensely. With the instruction’s from this book, regarding the exercises, I was able to do my own therapy at home which resulted in a score of an A at my fourth week visit.
